Ratings for Southland were up, but not great....let's hope it's enough to get a renewal at TNT for another season. I think the increase is a lot (from 1.5 million to 2.5 million approx.) but I'm not sure if it's enough...

Just got this on a yahoo/southland alert...hadn't seen it posted but playing it safe and just posting to my journal....hopefully a good sign that Ben's role is increasing in new episodes!

What can you tell me about the new season of Southland? — Will
ADAM: Ben Sherman is a rookie no more, which means he doesn't always have
to ride shotgun with John Cooper. "There's an episode that's called
'U-Boat,' which is an expression when someone goes out in a car by themselves for
the first time," creator Ann Biderman tells us. "That episode really deals
with Ben's graduation into a whole different realm of policing." He may not
want to celebrate just yet, though. "He has a tremendous triumph and at
the same time a very devastating thing that happens," Biderman says

Just saw a promo on TNT for the January 12th premier and it's being advertised as "Commercial free"! Can only hope that means it contains additional footage. If show is running the full hour with no commercial breaks there would have to be more added to fill the whole hour right!?!?!?

Hadn't seen these links anywhere but Twitter, so in case anyone wants to see them. YAY to TNT for promoting more already than NBC ever did past the pilot episode! :)

Short but sweet. No new Ben clips, but so good to see commercials starting to air! Guess it's time to tune in TNT just to catch a glimpse!

I knew things were not going well for NBC, but now I'm  just hoping the network stays afloat long enough for season 2 of Southland to air!

Wouldn't it be great if the series was sold to a cable network???? Wonder if that is a realistic option.......

This could explain why there hasn't been any promotion of S/land season 2, maybe it's DOA, or maybe NBC does not plan to spend money they don't have on advertising, either way....trying to remain optimistic...still 3 three LONG weeks to go.

Just my personal link to the only Southland promo I have seen so far. And since I don't watch many NBC shows (especially with Leno on every freaking night at 10PM), and when I do watch NBC I NEVER see this commercial...so here's my link to the season 2 promo:

sounds like they plan to wrap up the crime part of the story faster and do more of an in depth job of showing the personal point of view of the story for season 2.
